Teen Physics Playground: Illusions and Puzzles (ages 13–18)

Trick or train your brain! Explore the science of mind-bending illusions and test yourself with some of the trickiest puzzles around.

Learn more about your senses and how easily they can be fooled. Then, see how your brain tackles geometric, memory and logic puzzles in both 2D and 3D. In this interactive session, science educator Parker McLean will guide participants through demonstrations and experiments exploring how the human body collects and interprets sensory information, before putting your brain to the test with a range of puzzles and illusions. “Science is not only a body of knowledge, it is a way of knowing.” – Carl Sagan Join science communicator Parker McLean as you learn how to ask good questions and discover new relationships in the world around you. About the facilitator Science educator Parker McLean studied Physics, Maths and Science Communication in Canada and comes to Woollahra Library with a background in curating hands on science centre exhibits, galleries and programs. He has performed over 300 live science shows and 150 hands on science workshops. Bringing the joy of discovery to Woollahra Libraries, Parker presents classic science centre experiments and exhibits for you to puzzle through and explore!
