About this event
Event Description
Monty Python’s SPAMALOT is heading to Sydney for two short seasons this October, playing the Sydney Event Centre at The Star in Pyrmont from Thursday 15 to Sunday 18 October, then moving to the Coliseum Theatre in Rooty Hill from Thursday 22 to Sunday 25 October.
Lovingly lifted from the classic film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the musical retells the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. Along the way, audiences meet cows, killer rabbits, French people and a troupe of showgirls. The original Broadway production won three Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and the show is packed with absurd humour and memorable songs, among them the much-loved Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.
This all-new, reimagined production from Drew Anthony Creative stars Australian screen favourite Stephen Curry as King Arthur. Marney McQueen joins him for the Sydney performances as the Lady of the Lake.
Good to know
• Each Sydney venue hosts just six performances, so seats are limited
• The producers describe the show as suitable for all ages, while cheerfully warning that it is likely to offend just about everyone
• It makes a fun night out for Python-loving parents, and a great introduction to the comedy for older kids
Tickets for The Star season are available through Ticketmaster, and for the Coliseum Theatre season through Ticketek.
