Free to Dance is bringing families together for an hour of music and movement at the Gawlal Centre, Lane Cove.

It’s for every parent who has caught themselves singing along to the Wiggles long after the kids have wandered off, and it finally gives them a dance floor of their own. Free to Dance is an invitation for the whole family to let loose together, kids running wild and grown ups rediscovering their inner child, all without a scrap of choreography or a hint of judgement.

The playlist mixes childhood favourites with the classic bangers parents secretly love, plus some classical pieces, multicultural sounds and relaxed vibes thrown in for good measure. The idea is simple: introduce kids to a variety of music and let them move their bodies however the mood takes them.

There’s a small amount of structured activity to get everyone warmed up and in the groove, but the rest of the session is wide open, just families dancing to their hearts’ content.

Highlights include:

• A mix of children’s music, classic hits and multicultural sounds

• A few structured activities to get everyone moving together

• Plenty of free-form time for kids (and parents) to dance however they like

No choreography, no judgement, just music, movement and fun for the whole family.
